Having said all of that I still found the book well written with a diverse cast of characters. The Bad – The title of the book. Here, adult males embody a sort of community-sanctioned authority, which gives them licence, among other privileges, to take responsibility for disciplining other people’s children.

You get the feeling that if he’d been forced to read ‘literary’ fiction, Raoul Moat would have gulped it down. I did not watch the miniseries on TV. I think the sense of entitlement that so many people now have is corrosive. What unfolds is a powerful, haunting novel about love, sex and marriage, parenting and children, and the fury christo intensity – all the passions and conflicting beliefs – that family can arouse.
All of these characters were present at the barbecue where the slap took place.
Can there really be another pages to go? So, if you even remotely care about making each moment count From the varied ratings it seems that people either loved it or hated it. Concurrent with the rise of such wealth was a growing sense of entitlement. Tsolkias attempts to use it as the hook on which to place the unravelling or quaking of various relationships and there is a certain cleverness to the way the stories interreact and relate but the slap is of no real significance except for the totally unbelievable reaction of arrests and court cases. I probably would question how true the old myths were, but undoubtedly I believe that we have grown more selfish in our culture.
