So, even though it ends with an HEA, I lad wondered how much of one it could really be. He radiates power, but is a just and fair king, loved and respected among his people.


She forgave him every single time. As much as I love action and adventure packed stories, I about quit reading when Conn took Gelina to the caverns. The sub characters on Medeiro’s books are always entertaining and the villains–oh boy her villains. But for me Nimbus was one of those exceptional characters who managed to far outshine the hero. They alternate between hating and loving each other; and their love and hate is so passionate, I didn’t understand how they can switch to the opposite feeling!

I really liked the secondary characters, was hoping Conn would marry her off to Sean and then later, he dies, she comes back to him much older he much older, love lost, unrequited love, sigh Conn tells Gelina that he killed her cpnquest when he and she attacked him, but in truth, Conn does not know if the brother lives.

But above all it is a real ass throughout the second half of the book. Then he makes her his mistress before deciding to marry her. He wants to kill her because she has betrayed him, but eventually he rapes her.
